For a holiday spent discovering the territory, its flavours and traditional delicacies. Don't miss the Excursion to Bolgheri: this is a medieval village full of charm and renowned throughout the world for its wines, which are characterised by an intense and harmonious flavour.
Considering the fame that the village's wine production enjoys, it's inconceivable to go to Bolgheri without tasting its wines.
Here, therefore, is the excursion itinerary created to suit the whole family...
Every Wednesday, Park Albatros organises the Wine Tasting excursion for adults and children, departing directly from the Village (at 10:00 am between the Olympic swimming pool and the supermarket) going to Bolgheri!
During the excursion, you will be enchanted by some unparalleled glimpses of nature. You'll come to discover the medieval origin of the city, passing by the famous Viale dei Cipressi and then taste 3 typical wines from the area.
The small village is just over half an hour away by bus, where the road follows a portion of the Etruscan Coast, with a picture-postcard view of the sea near the Holiday Village.
But the most striking feature is certainly the Cypress tree-lined avenue, known as Viale dei Cipressi, which turns inland and leads towards the village.
This road, immortalised in verse by the poet Giosuè Carducci, features 2540 tall and dense secular cypresses that line each side, accompanying the soft climbs of the avenue.
We've finally made it! Although it is situated just a few kilometres inland from the sea, Bolgheri is a village that stands among vineyards and olive groves. This is where the foundation of its agricultural and winemaking tradition was born, making it a great attraction for tourists and enthusiasts today.
The whole village unfolds around Bolgheri Castle, which serves as the gateway to the city with its rectangular tower.
Here, you will have some time to explore the paved alleys of the centre, see the ancient churches and admire the shop windows of the artisanal boutiques!
After 45 minutes, it's time to get back on board to reach the Tenuta (Farm) and start tasting some wine.
During the journey, however, you will be able to admire the Bolgherese vineyards, one of the most famous wine roads in the area.
Arriving at the Tenuta, it's time to discover the art of wine-making! The guide will show you the cellars, the tools of the trade and the production method of the local wine.
It is thanks to the characteristics of the territory, the sunny and breezy climate that some of the most popular wines are born, such as the Tenuta San Guido's Sassicaia. The defining characteristic of these SuperTuscan wines is the blend. This comes from the union of the traditional Sangiovese grape with other types of grapes, especially Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
And now: taste!
During the Wine Tasting you can taste 3 of the best wines from the Tenuta: white, rosé and red. To complete your tasting experience and satisfy your hunger, the house offers a Tuscan-style light lunch: a delicious platter of cold cuts and cheeses.
Now you are refreshed, let's move on to souvenirs! In the Tenuta's shop you can buy the wines you have sampled and some other souvenirs of the excursion.
Last stop: Castagneto Carducci, which name celebrates the famous poet who lived there.
The visit to the village, castle and churches ends the excursion, so you can return to the Holiday Village and enjoy the last hours of sunshine before dinner.
The return trip is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
